Contented Thankfulness

Contentment – a state of happiness and satisfaction.

“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” I Timothy 6:6-8

“You say, ‘If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.’ You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.”
Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Ask yourself today, am I content? Many people live a lifestyle that lacks contentment. Many people are living in a state of unhappiness because they always want more, they what they don’t have and they want what they can’t have.

I think that if you are content with what you have, you are thankful for what you have.  If you are thankful for what you have, than you are content with what you have. Contentment and thankfulness go hand in hand.

We lose sight of the blessings that God has given us. We forget where He has brought us from. We are more concerned with what He hasn’t given us and what He hasn’t blessed us with. God knows how much we can handle and what we need. He tells us in Philippians 4:19 that He will supply all our need….He didn’t say that He would supply all our wants. Be content that God has supplied your needs and He may give you a little more blessing on top!

In this season of thanksgiving, let us learned not to be thankful for what we have but also content with what we have.
