An Interview With My Dad

On my Podcast, I’m starting a new series where I interview different people who have been faithful in serving Christ.

I decided that I had to kick this series off with the person I look up to when it comes to this attribute of being faithful, Doug Hutton.

My dad has been the picture of faithfulness over the years and he has been a great example when it comes to faithfulness and loving the Lord.

Give to Gain

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21 KJV

We live in such a materialistic minded world that all we focus on is the things around us. Christ tells us that we need to lay treasures up in Heaven, instead of building our portfolio. Now I don’t think there is anything wrong with being successful and wealthy here on earth as long as we realize that God gave us everything we have and we use it to His glory.

Eventually you will pass away, the things you own will be passed on. You can’t take anything with when you die. We need to realize that only what we do for Christ will last.

When you give here on earth, you gain in Heaven! Let it not be said that we as Christians were to selfish to share the Good News of Jesus Christ!
