2020 Vision

Cliché right?

I am sure that we will hear the term “2020 vision” quite a bit throughout this year.

Too be honest, I have already taught a Sunday School lesson on this subject and at our church’s watchnight service, we heard a message with the same title.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18

I honestly didn’t really know what 20/20 meant until I looked it up the other day. Here is a basic definition of the term 20/20: 20/20 vision is a term used to express normal visual acuity (the clarity or sharpness of vision) measured at a distance of 20 feet. … If you have 20/100 vision, it means that you must be as close as 20 feet to see what a person with normal vision can see at 100 feet.

To be honest, that definition of 20/20 vision has nothing to with my thought today, I just thought it was interesting since I never knew what it was.

I’ve heard this verse used many times when it comes to soul winning and reaching the lost. When you don’t have a vision to reach people for Christ, people will perish. It is a great application of the verse but I want to look at it in a different light.

We could say, “If I have no vision, I will perish.” Now we may not perish physically but we may perish in our life in the sense that we will never achieve or amount to anything.

I looked up the definition of vision:

– the act or power of seeing

– A thought, concept or object formed by the imagination

– The act or power of imagination

Bible def: from a sight (mentally) that (is) a (dream) (revelation) or oracle

Of course we know vision means to see, but it also means having a thought or concept. You can look at people that have succeeded and you can see that their vision, their thoughts and/or concepts became reality!

In 2020, we don’t have visions that the prophets had during Bible times. The reason is we have what God wants us to know in the Word of God, the King James Bible!

We can and should have goals for our lives!

We should have daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and life goals. There should be goals for all aspects and areas of life!

Without goals, without a vision, we have no direction, no destination and definitely no determination!

What is your vision for 2020?

Do you have one?

Do you have a direction you want to go?

Or are you just going to go through the year aimlessly and hope your better off at the end then you are now?

Set goals!

Be determined!

Don’t be afraid to fail!

Keep pressing on no matter how hard it gets!

Don’t perish in 2020 due to a lack of vision!

Being A Confident Christian

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

Philippians 1:6

Last night, my wife and I were talking about the subject of being confident and what it means when it comes to serving the Lord. Then today, this verse shows up as the verse of the day and I got to thinking some more about the subject of being confident.

God has call each one of us to a good work. He has something that He wants each one of us to fulfill and accomplish in our lives. Paul is telling us that if we have been called, we can be confident in knowing that God will help us carry out that work.

I have a few areas that I believe that we should be confident in, and have confidence in Christ that He will help us in these areas.

The first is Salvation. I am confident in Christ that He will save me if I put my faith and trust in Him. When I accepted Christ as my Saviour, I was unsure about His power and ability to save me. I had complete and total confidence in His Word that what He said He would do, He would do! We can have confidence in salvation through Jesus Christ!

Next we can have confidence in our Soul winning. We can have confidence in telling others about the saving power of Jesus Christ! It worked for us, why won’t it work for someone else. Telling other people about Jesus Christ and how He alone can save them is the number responsibility of every single Christian! There is no need to be scared or intimidated by the world, being a witness is a good work, and we are to be confident in what we are called to do!

We can have confidence in our Service. I like to think that being a soul winner and being a servant are two different aspects of the Christian life, yet we are called to do both. If God has called you to serve in some area of church, and I believe there is a place for everyone, you can have confidence that God will help you in that service, in that good work. Too many Christians sit idly by for whatever reasons, but I think one of the big reasons is they lack confidence. We have to realize that whatever God has called us to do, He has equipped us to perform that good work, and we can find confidence in Him.

Then lastly, our Standards are something we can take confidence in. I look around and I see a lot of Christians giving in to worldly fashion and worldly living. They have lost confidence in the standards that God has given to us in His Word. We are called to look different, be different, act different and talk different than the worldly crowd. When I see Christians that are dropping their standards, I see people that have lost confidence in God and what He can do if they live according to His Word. Be peculiar, be confident in being different!

Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you can find confidence in Christ to fulfill His will for your life!

3 Profit Building Techniques For A Christian

When the word profit is used, we automatically think of money. How much money are we profiting from our actions in life? From our jobs, side hustles and whatever else we got going on, how much money are we bring in? That is the profit we think of.

Trust me, I am not going to give you a money-making scheme today, because that is not what this blog is about, nor do I have a money-making scheme to share. Today, I want to share with you, how you can become more profitable in your Christian life.

I was reading my Bible yesterday and I saw a verse in Job that stuck out to me and I have been thinking about it this past day. This verse is where I got today’s topic from.

“Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself.”

Job 22:2

I have been pondering that question, “Can a man be profitable unto God?”

I believe the answer to this is yes.

One of the meanings of the word profitable is beneficial, useful. Can a man be found beneficial or useful unto God? I believe the answer is yes, why would we be here if we couldn’t?

How can we build or usefulness towards God? Does God benefit from having us here on earth? What can we do to be profitable to God?

The first part of this verse is a question, the second part is a statement. “…as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself.” In the secular field, everyone is concerned about their profit. How can they be profitable to themselves? The people who wise in their work, in their money, in who they associate with, those are the ones who are profitable to themselves.

Whether we are profitable or not to ourselves shouldn’t be our main concern while here on earth. We need to be more concerned about being profitable to God and for God.

While I was thinking about this, I got to thinking that the Christian life can be summed up into 3 areas, no matter the topic. Your walk, your work and your worship are all vital to the Christian life. If you are lacking in one, you are not fulfilling the Christian life as God wants you to.

First technique in being profitable for God is you have realize that God has a purpose for you and that He wants to use you. “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,” II Timothy 1:9 You will never be profitable for God, until you realize that you are a saved child of God and that He has a holy calling for your life. I am not saying that you are called to pastor a church or be a missionary or travel in evangelism, God has a calling for you to holy. For you to live your life as close to His Word as possible. We have to realize that our life isn’t to be wasted on the doing what we want, but it needs to be used serving the Lord in every way we can.

Second technique in being profitable for God is you have to recognize what is holding you back and get rid of it. You will never be profitable for God as long as you have something holding you back in your walk, work, or worship for Him. In Hebrews 12:1, it tells us to “…lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us…” We can have a sin that is holding us back or we can have a weight that is holding us back. What is a weight in the spiritual life? It could be a hobby that keeps you out of serving in ministries, it could be work taking up to much of your time, it could be sports keeping you away from the church. All those things are not sin, but they are weights which are hindering you from serving God. If you can’t recognize that you either have a sin or a weight, you will not be able to be profitable for God.

The third and final technique I have today in being profitable for God is refuse to quit standing for right and refuse to quit serving the Lord. The devil will do anything he can to get you to stop serving, to get you to lower your standards, to get you to give up when it comes to standing for what is right and for the truth. We need more Christians like Paul who once he got saved, went full steam ahead for serving the Lord. You cannot and will not be profitable unto God when you stop serving and stop standing. You then decide your way is more important than His and there is no profit in that.

When we live a life that is profitable unto God, that is the wisest thing that you can do. God will then bring profit to you in by taking care of you and blessing you.

So no, this isn’t a way to profit financially in our careers, but it is a way to profit from the blessings of God by living a life that is profitable to Him.
