Blessings vs. Burdens

Do my burdens outweigh my blessings?

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30 KJV

I saw a quote on Twitter that I took exception too and I responded with these Bible verses and a question. Soon after, I was blocked. I don’t know why, and it doesn’t really matter but it gave me a truth that I want to share.

Here’s the quote, “Your burdens will always OUTWEIGH your blessings, but they will never OUTNUMBER them. So, count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done!”

Seems like a good quote, but my question was something like this (I can’t go back and look because it was deleted and I was blocked) “So if I take Jesus’s burdens it will outweigh His blessings in my life?”

I got to thinking about it and even if I took that phrase “your burdens” personal and didn’t apply taking the yoke of Jesus, my burdens will never outweigh any blessings that I have.

If I have just one blessing in life and that blessing is salvation through Jesus Christ alone, that far outweighs all the burdens I have.

If you look at your burdens and they seem to outweigh your blessings, than it’s time to look at what yoke you are carrying. You aren’t carrying the yoke of the Saviour, because His burden is light. You are probably carrying the yoke of self, the yoke of sin, because sin is a weight. “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us…”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭KJV

If your burdens do outweigh your blessings, than it is time to look in the mirror and see what you need to do to take the yoke of Christ.

If your burden is heavy, are you burdened down with sin? That weight of sin will soon make you forget the blessings of Christ in your life.

So in conclusion, as long as I have the burden and yoke of Christ, my burden will never outweigh my blessings as I do have too many blessings to number. If I ever do feel burdened down, I need to check myself and make sure I am totally right with God and those around me as the burden of sin is heavy and it is not worth carrying.

A Trickle or A Torrent?

I was listening to a sermon the other day by Bro. Caleb Garraway. The title was “What Can Limit A Limitless God?” It was a great sermon by the way.

This quote stuck out to me as he was talking about Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest no.”

God wants to show us great and mighty things but our unbelief hinders Him from working in our life! I don’t just want a trickle of the goodness of God, I want a torrent of the goodness of God!

Trickle – to run or fall in drops, to flow in a thin slow stream

Torrent – A tumultuous outpouring, rush

Your unbelief and unwillingness to ask are some of the things hindering God’s goodness in your life! Let God show how great He is in your life! Stop trying to limit Him by thinking you can do or even that He can do it.

God wants to give you a torrent of blessings, yet your belief will only allow a trickle of blessings from Him!
