Only Believe

“Be not afraid, only believe.”

If you stop and think about this phrase, you will realize how simple it is to understand but how hard it is to put into action.

We see this phrase in Mark 5:36. In this passage, we find the story of the woman healed from the issue of blood and the story of Jairus’s daughter being raised back to life.

At the time that this statement was spoken by Christ, He was telling Jairus that his daughter wasn’t dead but only sleeping. Jairus was told “Be not afraid, only believe.”

I saw this phrase in the morning service this past Sunday and I have thought about extensively and how it applies to my life.

Faith is so hard to act on. Faith is tough to comprehend sometimes. Faith seems impossible to have but without it, it’s impossible to please Christ.

The past few weeks have been some tough weeks for me spiritually, especially when it comes to my faith in Christ. I’ve been afraid. I’ve worried. I’ve stressed. I’ve been unsure.

But I saw those words and I felt like Christ was talking to me saying, “Caleb, Be not afraid, only believe.”

Any problems I’m facing, I know I can’t be afraid, I just need to believe.

Whatever you are facing in your life, just remember “Be not afraid, only believe.”

Remember God is in control of everything. He already knows what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year. Nothing takes God by surprise!

Have faith! Exercise faith!

BE NOT AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE!!

3 Things To Do To ‘Be Still’

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭KJV
‬‬

My wife’s aunt was watching our girls this past weekend and she told us this story about our youngest, Brynne. Brynne was praying for lunch and she speeded right through her prayer, “ThankyouJesusforthisfoodamen.” Brynne was told to slow down so then her prayer was “T h a n k y o u J e s u s f o r t h i s f o o d a m e n.”

When I heard this story, I started thinking about how much God wants us to slow down.

In this crazy, fast paced world, we rarely have time for God or spiritual things! We are too busy working, spending time with friends and family and even sometimes too busy doing ministry work. God wants us to ‘Be still and know Him.’

So how do we ‘be still’ in this ever changing world?

1. Set apart time to ‘be still.’

You have to purpose and plan a time to be still. If you don’t have any time set aside to be still and talk to God, you never will be still. Most people live such a busy schedule that they waste the extra time they do have! Trust me, I understand, I’m the same way sometimes….it’s hard to just stop and be still and know God. Just like you have a time to go to work or go to church or go to a doctor’s appointment, you need to set apart and schedule a time to meet and walk with God.

2. Slow down.

Just slow down. Look at all the blessings God has given you. Slow down and see how God has taken care of you. When you slow down, you will have a better chance of being still and knowing God. Too many people never slow down in their busy lives. They just rush right on by everything God has blessed them with.

3. Find a secluded place.

Find a spot to be alone and talk with God. Jesus went up into the mountain to pray, He went further into the garden to pray. He found times and places to be alone and to be still so that He could talk to the Father. He was the perfect example for us. It’s good to slow down and set apart some time and then seclude yourself so that you can be still and know God!
